Tour to Germany
In response to an invitation from our partners in Germany, Posaunenwerk Hannover, a group will be visiting Germany in August to participate in a Brass Festival which will form part of the 1000th Anniversary celebrations of the St Michael’s Church in Hildesheim. The group will be led by Bernard Fortuin, with Rudolph Engel as the conductor, and Tyrone Hitzeroth as assistant conductor. The group is hard at work preparing for the tour, and has already met for three practices, two in Bainskloof and one in Cape Town, where it was able to participate in the divine service of the St Martini Church, the venue for the weekend practice. In addition the Cape Town contingent of the group meets regularly, and has already played together as a group on one occasion. This practice will continue in order to develop the group further. The musical preparation will conclude with a concert in the St Martini Church in Long Street, Cape Town on Saturday 7 August 2010. The group will then depart for Germany on 9 August in order to participate in the 13th August Festival in Hernnhut. In addition to the main event in Hildesheim, the group will also visit several other towns in Germany in a 23 day tour.
